Guest Speakers:

Rocci Aguirre: Land Trust Manager.

Talked about Land Trust as a Conservation gift.  Looking out for conservation land for the future.  Example: If you know of someone who has a farm and they are considering selling that farm, would they be interested in putting their land into a Conservation Land Trust.

They have recently acquired land in Sullivan County and down state for this purpose to make sure that hunting continues everywhere.  Thank you for coming. If anyone is interested in learning more, you can contact Gary Chave.

DEC EC Officer Scott Angotti:

Scott Angotti wrote down a few things that he and Dieter Kramer do for DEC Law Enforcement on a daily basis.   Seneca County will be getting a boat to use on the lakes.  They also do: Boating Inspections, Littering, Turkey Hunting License checks, Truck Emissions checks, Rescued 2 baby Sketch Owls, helped out with a 2 Armed Robbery Suspects, Freon release from Air Conditioners, Fuel Leak from a Tractor Trailer and our famous Robo Deer maybe used in the future.  Thanks Scott, it was an eye opener what you and Dieter do on a day to day business.

Tim Noga Friends of Montezuma Complex:

Gave out information on news articles from: Cattails and Wildflowers and Wine.  I will send copies out to all the clubs.  If anyone wants more information you can to the following websites:  http://www.friendsofmontezuma.org  or www.montezumawinery.com  This is what is new and is happening at Montezuma Complex.   Thanks Tim.

S.C. Federation website:

Gary Chave has taken over running the website.  Everything is up to date now on the website. Gary has made some changes to better the website.

Harry Pentingill:

Talked about the court dismissal of the Indian Land Claim.

2006 Banquet:

Treasurer John Andrews gave a detailed report about the banquet.  120 members and friends attend the banquet.   We met some new people such as Chris Kenyon – new outdoor writer for the FL Times. He gave us a great write up in his column.  Wally John 1st Vice President for the NYS Conservation Council. Tim Duffy – DEC Law Enforcement.  Yvonne Chave – Gary Chaves wife. And some old friends – Senator Nozzolio, Assemblyman Kolb, Dennis Money, Tim Noga.  The Federation wants to thank everyone who attended and made the banquet a success and we hope everyone had a good time.  We sure did.  Future suggestions:  More of the clubs should encourage their members to attend by clubs buying more banquet dinner tickets.  One comment I heard was – I’ve never seen so many women attend the banquet this year.  The women that attended were head to head with the men this year.  It is great feeling to see so many women attend.  Keep up the good work.  Remember, behind every man is a good woman who hunts and enjoys the outdoors right along with her man!!

Old Business:

National Forest Youth Fishing Day:  Mark White gave a report on guarding the trout at Potomac Ponds.  Chased away suspected poaches from the ponds.  This is becoming a real problem and why do people want to take away trout for the kids fishing the next day.  Maybe we can get Law Enforcement involved next.  A few tickets may keep some thieves away.

Snow Shoe Rabbits:

It has been brought up at previous meeting about introducing Snow Shoe Rabbits into the F.L. National Forest.  Gary Chave and Mark White will work on this project.

Motion made to adjourn.  Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,

Barbara Wells
