Meeting opened by President John Sipos and pledge allegiance to the flag.

Secretary Report:

      Secretary Report reviewed. Corrections:  Finger Lakes National Forest and their director Michael Lu. This had to due with stocking of snow shoe rabbits in the forest.  Mr. Lu wants a study done on habitat, biology, etc, before he will take steps forward in this project. Motion made to accept. Motion carried.

Treasurer Report:

      Treasurer report given by John Andrews and all accounts reviewed. Motion made to accept. Motion carried.  John reported that all clubs have paid their dues. Thank you.

Correspondents:

DEC Camp:

     Finger Lakes Conservation Club sent two youths to camp over the summer and our asking to be reimbursed. Motion made to accept. Motion carried.

Committee Report:

Banquet Committee:

     For the 2007 Banquet the committee would like to honor our President – Past and Present.   Their names are: John Andrews, Gary Chave, Art Hall and of course John Sipos. If you know of anyone else deserving this honor, let me know.  We will be going over the old records to see if we have missed any one.  Motion made to accept. Motion carried.

Old Business:

     In the past, noted that the Farm Bureau used to have a dinner for the area farmers and invite the Board of Supervisors.

Is there a reason why we do not do that any more?  Just a thought.

Seneca White Deer:

     Tours will be this weekend and the following weekend.  All 1800 hundreds slots filled.  Out pouring of enthusiasm and support from the community, NY State and the across the United States. SWD has joined the NYS Conservation Council.    

Art Hall:

   Art has been given information on all the clubs to do a census of all the members to update our current list.

Guest:  DEC E.C. Officer Scott Angotti:

    He gave an over view of his duties as of lately.  He has been working in Monroe Co., Genesee River, Seneca River, Orleans Co. and Pulaski. 

Checking out hunting complaints that are  dealing with baiting of deer. Building permits that interfere with lake water run off.  Burning Solid Waste, ATV Patrol in Tyre, Nuisance Permits that involve the taking of Bucks.  Did you know that with nuisance permits, you are only allowed to take Does?  There is also a hefty fine if you are caught taking  a buck!  Thanks, Scott.

New Business:

FWMA:

 Report read by John Andrews.  Empire Farm Days sold 50 Habitat Stamps. 

 There are 27 States that have no age limit for hunting.

 There is legislation being considered proposing a Federal Salt Water Fishing License. It would affect 15 States along the Atlantic Ocean and up to the 1st Bridge along the Hudson River.  Presently anyone can fish with out a license.

  Mike Wasilco – Wildlife Manager has been named to take the replace of Dave Odell who retired last month.  

  DEC has has acquired 80 acres at Junius Ponds.  Village of Lyons stopped using one of the ponds for a water supply.

  Do you know of any land that can be considered for Open Space funding? DEC needs to know by January. That is when priorities will be set.

  DEC has installed collars on 14 Coyotes in Westchester County to try to determine their range because they are multiplying too rapidly.

  Landowner Incentive Program provides funding for habitat improvement and enhancement of grassland birds.  You can contact DEC for an application of do it on line at the DEC website.  Needs to be done by mid November.

  DEC Law Enforcement has changed their operation to the advantage of our Conservation Officers.  They are allowed to work hours that they need to work. Making many arrests for Deer and Bear jacking.

  Environmental Conservation Law # 11-0103 that designates Small Game to has added native frogs, native salamanders, native turtles, native lizards and native snakes.  These added species have their own season in an effort to stop the uncontrolled taking a commercialization of some of these species, some of them endangered. Kenny Poorman – Ducks Unlimited – Seneca County Chapter:

    Dinner will be December 6th at the Elks Club – Auction and Guns will be offered. To get a hold of Kenny call: 315-549-8358.

South Seneca Sportsmen’s Club – Fall Shoot will be held on Sunday November 5th.

MacDougall Sportsmen’s Club – Fall Turkey Shoot will be held on Saturday November 11th 10 am – dark.  Kids 14 and under shoot free at designated targets.

No meetings in November. Next meeting will be December 20th  at 7:30pm at the Buckskin Bowmen Field Archery club on 5 & 20 next to the NYS Troopers barracks.
