General Meeting
Meeting attended by 52 members and Guests
Meeting called to order by President Tom Mitchell, Jr. at 7:15 pm.
Welcomed all the Presidents and Vice Presidents after everyone was treated to at Steak Dinner
Minutes:
May minutes reviewed. Motion made to accept. Motion carried.
Treasurers Report:
Treasurer John Andrews gave an extensive report on all accounts. Noted that dues have not been paid from the following: Finger Lakes Sports-O-Rama & Seneca Schuyler Wildlife Management. Motion made to send them a letter.
Noted that money is still coming in from the Annual Banquet.
Motion made to accept. Motion carried.
Correspondences:
MacDougall Sportsmen’s Club:
Letter read from Kathy Larsen that their club is having their Annual Hunting & Fishing Day. Motion made to give them $200.00. Motion carried.
Committee Reports:
C. Scott Sampson Scholarship:
Gave Chave gave a report on the report on last year’s scholarship winner. This college freshman has changed her major to art and will not be awarded a scholarship.
Scholarship for this year is being awarded to a student from Romulus Central School. He will be attending FLCC in the fall. He will be studying Conservation. Presentation of scholarship will be done on June 28th at the Romulus Central School.
FWMB:
Habitat Stamp sales are up by 136. Not huge increase from last year.
Jr. Hunting Bill for 14 and 15 year olds is making its way through the Senate, Assembly and EnCon Committee. Will keep an eye on its progress.
National Hunting and Fishing Day in Avon may have to move its site as they maybe working on the road at that time.
Bear Sightings:
Reports have been coming in about Bear sightings on Rt. 89 around Cayuga Lake State Park. If you see a Bear, do not attempt to move it away from your property. Call 911 Center and they will notify DEC Officers of its sighting. Remember: If you are feeding the song birds take you feeder down for a few days until the bear moves on, then you can replace it.
Seneca Lake:
DEC has seeded the Seneca Lake for Lamprey eels. This was a scheduled event to control the lamp ray eel population.
Big Game Task Force:
Noted for DMA Pemits, there will be fewer permits in 8N and more permits in 8X.
There will be an increase in permits this year overall in Region 8.
Reporting there may be a Bear Hunting Season in Seneca County. It is not determined yet, but with all the recent Bear sightings, it maybe a possibility.
Pheasant Stocking:
Stocking maybe reduced to elevated costs. They may reduce the number of chicks overall in the coming year.
Chronic Wasting Disease:
Testing will be reduced or eliminated dues to the rising costs of this test and as no CWD testing has come back positive.
DECALS:
On October 1st, you may be able to send in your information on line. New program is being established.
Habitat Stamp:
New Non-Residency Habitat Stamp is being looked into. Proceeds go directly into the Conservation Fund. Resident Habitat Stamp would be purchased for only $1.00. This is not mandatory yet.
Old Business:
Banquet Committee:
None.
Enrichment Committee:
Nothing to report. Trying to set up a meeting with Senator Nozzolio. No time has been set yet. Will contact his office again.
Resolutions:
All clubs were mailed Resolutions. Check sheets are coming in. Will total the tally sheets and publish results when all sheets have been received.
Finance Committee:
Budget for next year to be established.
Finger Lakes Conservation Club:
Youth Fishing Derby:
Youth 12 yrs old and under are invited to the Free Fishing Day on June 28th at Oak Island. All kids will receive a fishing pole and gear. Food will be served. Raffles include – Tarjac offering a free dip for a Bow or Gun.
New Business:
Farm Days:
Farm Days will be August 5th, 6th and 7th. NYS Conservation Council will have a booth again this year. Raffles will include tickets for Cash Prizes and Raffle for a Handmade Quilt. The Quilt is sponsored by the Mad Rive Club and proceeds to go the NYS Conservation Council. Barb Wells will be working there everyday.
NYS Conservation Council:
The 75th Anniversary of the NYS Conservation Council Convention will be September 19th, 20th, 21st, in New Hartford, NY.

Motion made to adjourn. Motion carried. There will be no meetings over the summer. Everyone have a Great and Safe Summer.
Next Meeting Will Be At Interlaken Sportsmen’s Club on September 16th at 7 pm.
