General Meeting
October 21, 2008

Meeting called to order at 7:30 pm by President Tom Mitchell Jr. Pledge allegiance to the flag opened the meeting.
Minutes:
Corrections: Reynolds Pheasant Farm is run by the DEC. Motion made to accept minutes. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report:
John Andrews not able to attend meeting tonight. No report given.
Correspondences:
DEC Camp:
Rumseyville Sportsmen’s Club sent to 2 youths to camp this summer. Requesting reimbursement. Motion made to reimburse. Motion carried.
Federation Website:
Gary Chave has been in contact over the Web Service Provider and renewal for services for 2009 has been paid.
Membership Meetings:
Gary Chave noted that the meetings are not being very well attended with reminders going out over the internet. Suggested that postcards be sent out to everyone reminding them of the upcoming meetings.
Committee Reports:
Finance Committee:
Following members are on the committee: DeLoss Stuck, Gary Chave, Bill Dadson and Ron Enslow. Meeting will be called before the January meeting to go over all finances for the upcoming year.
Banquet Committee:
Committee members will meet at 6:30 pm before the membership meeting at North Seneca. President Tom Mitchell Jr., will contact North Seneca about the meeting.
Old Business:
Gary Chave gave a report on DEC.
- In July, DEC was facing a deficit for $23 Million Dollars. DEC was being paid for out of the Conservation Fund and are now being paid for out of the General Fund. This will ease the burden to the fund.
- DEC Camps had 1200 Campers this year.
- Sportsmen’s Education saw an increase across the board last year. 8280 attended classes.
- New York is the 44th State to the Archery in Schools Program. .
- 23 new EC Officers have graduated from DEC Training Academy.
- Green Energy is on the rise and will be seen more in the NY State and the US.
- Out Door News reports that many people were unable to attend Hunter Safety classes this year as there has been a record number of sign ups this year. More instructors are going to be needed. President Tom Mitchell Jr., John Sipos and Bill Dadson talked about getting some Federation members interested in teaching classes. They will contact Avon – DEC and talk about instructors and how to do it.
- License sales are up 22,000. 1.6 Million Licenses were sold last year.
- New York State Conservation Council states that March on Albany is not influencing legislators as well as it use to. This year the NYSCC will not have the march and instead will focus on a one day meeting.
Friends of NRA Banquet:
Banquet was held at the Trumansburg American Legion on October 24th. Gun of the year was one by Sherry Covert – member of MacDougall Sportsmen’s Club. 150 people attended the banquet. Senator Michael Nozzolio honored the family of Bob Klemann with a Senate Resolution. Assemblyman Brian Kolb submitted an Assembly Resolution as well.
New Business:
President Tom Mitchell Jr., reported that he has purchased a house in Ontario County and wondered if this would present a problem acting as President. Noted that there is nothing in the By-Laws stating that a board member has to live in Seneca County.
Reynolds Game Farms:
Suggested that the Federation should write a letter opposing any cuts to pheasant farm or fish hatcheries in NY State.
