General Meeting

13 Members Representing 9 Clubs

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by President Tom Mitchell, Jr.  Pledge allegiance to the flag opened the meeting. 

Minutes:
Minutes read to membership.  Motion made to accept. Motion carried.

Treasurer Report:
Report read by Treasurer John Andrews.  Dues paid by Waterloo R & P, Harry Pentingill and South Seneca. Motion made to accept.  Motion carried.

Correspondences:
Letter read by Reg. 8 Hunter Safety Instructors asking for donations for their banquet.  Motion made to table till next meeting.

FL Land Trust:
Letter read by President Tom Mitchell, Jr., that they want to keep farm land and to keep it rural and not be developed by housing developers.

Deer Task Force:
Barb Wells contacted by group in lower 8S to study the deer in Southern Seneca, Schuyler and Tompkins Co., and would anyone like to be the contact person and help on the board.  South Seneca would like more information and emails will be sent to their web site.

License Fee Proposals:
Gary Chave gave details for possible license fee increases.  CFAB (Conservation Fund Advisory Board) will keep track of the money that is going into the General Fund. Increase will need to be approved by the Assembly, the Senate and then the Governor.  They will not ask for a mandatory Habitat Stamp at this time, even though many outlets are not asking hunters if they would like to purchase one.

Committee Reports:
Budget Committee:
Nom meetings were held as more information is needed.

DEC Camp:
Discussion on how much to budget for DEC Camp?  Motion made to budget $500.00 for reimbursement to club. 1 opposition Motion carried.  Depending upon how many kids go to DEC Camps this year.  Money will be divided up among clubs.

FWMB:
John Andrews gave a detailed report on Habitat Stamp.  Noted that only 8,678 Stamps were purchased this past year. Less than 4.6%.  Noted that there were 12 accidents last year, 1 fatality. That person fell out of a tree stand.

Banquet Committee:
Banquet will be held at the Waterloo Sportsmen’s Club this year.  Dinner tickets will be $25.00 and dinner will be Steak Dinner.   Raffle Tickets will be mailed out to clubs who need tickets.  Banquet Advertisements have started coming in.  The banquet committee has named who they will honor. Barb Wells will be honored this year and I am honored that they have nominated me.  Guest speaker will be Dave Odell.  He has worked for DEC for many years and we are sure he will give an impressive detail on his expertise.

Old Business:
No new business.

New Business:
NYS Conservation Council will have a 1 day meeting this year for its Legislative Meeting.   Gary Chave will be attending.  Motion made to pay for one day meeting and mileage. Motion carried.  Legislative Bill’s will have more information on them than before.

Seneca White Deer:
Tours have been granted on the old Seneca Army Depot site for 2009 in April and May.  Prices are:
Adults - $15.00, Seniors - $12.00 and Children 12 and Under - $7.00.   Buses will tour and riders will be able to see the old Q area site, which FL Technology Group is operating in at this time and they will be able to see a Bunker as well.  More information as it becomes available.

Rogers Pockets Directories:
Motion made to purchase 5 directories.  The same as last year. Motion carried.

Adjournment:
Motion made to adjourn.  Motion carried.

Next meeting will be at the South Seneca Sportsmen’s Club on March 17th at 7 pm.
