December 15, 2009
North Seneca Sportsmen’s Club
General Meeting
Guest: Joan Hendrix: Seneca Shopper
Minutes:
Minutes reviewed. Motion made to accept. Motion carried.
Treasurer Report:
John Andrews gave a detailed report on accounts. Motion made to accept. Motion carried.
Guest Speaker:
Joan Hendrix of the Seneca Shopper in Interlaken spoke about getting the advertisements for the Federation as we are lacking volunteers to get advertisements for our Annual Banquet Book. Her staff can get some of the advertisements for the Federation and charge a percentage for ads collected. She noted they can go to Cayuga, Ontario, Schuyler and Trumansburg Counties for advertisements. She also noted that they do the Fair Book for Trumansburg Fair as well. John Andrews noted that they collected ads for the Seneca County Fair Book and did their book as well. More information is needed and it was decided that we would get the book ads together, decide what ads they could collect and what ads the volunteers will get and have a meeting. Motion made to wait until more information is gathered before we make a decision.
Correspondence:

Letter read from Assemblyman Brian Kolb on the upcoming legislative event in Albany for review of legislation, 2nd Amendment right, and more.

Thank you for the wreath, those who attended the calling hours and those who sent cards. It has been a difficult time but things are getting back to normal.
Conservation Area on the Seneca Army Depot:
Discussion on opening up the hunt on the Seneca Army Depot to access of sportsmen. DeLoss Stuck suggested the Federation talk to the Board of Supervisors about hunting privileges. Noted that there is not enough mowing being provided on depot except when it is time for the hunt. More discussion needed.
Nomination Committee:
Vice President John Sipos set the nominating committee for next months election. The following are: Barb Wells, John Andrews and Ron Enslow. All the following are up for election: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and 3 Board of Directors Seats. If you are interested in anyone of these positions you can contact Ron Enslow: 539-8940,
Barb Wells: 585-6359, or John Andrews: 539-2820.
Seneca White Deer:
Habitat Work:
Seneca White Deer is interested in doing some Habitat Cleaning and Clearing on the Depot in the spring. Also interesting in planting Food Plots and Mowing at sites on Depot as well. This will not interfere with Fort Drum Troops coming in for exercise training.
Committee Reports:
Finance Committee:
No report and No Meetings
Banquet Committee:
Bill Dadson brought the gun that will head the banquet raffle. New this year: The TC Thompson Center “Bone Collector”, Black Powder 50 Cal. fully Camo with Camo Scope. This is a really sharp looking rifle. Also will have, Remington 870 20ga, 1022 Ruger 22cal, Binocular 10x50 and new this year a Travel Camera. Tickets will be sent to all clubs and will bring the Thompson Center to the next meeting at MacDougall.
Old Business:
Conservation Alliance asking for a donation from Federation. Motion made to table this until next meeting.
New Business:
Bill Dadson noted that Turkey Season regulation is looking for a two week season instead of 1 week. October 24th – November 6th.
DeLoss Stuck would like a form to be sent to each club asking for a Deer Kill report. This form would also ask how many deer were seen this past season. Noted that too many people are getting nuisance permits and DEC is not following up on this permit. Noted that there are some places that have too many deer or are not seeing enough. Motion made to send out questionnaire. Motion carried.
Club Participation:
Gary Chave noted that the club member and Federation membership has been declining as of lately. It is very serious that every club is not participating at the meetings and the updates of information are not getting back to the membership of every club. Everyone is asked to come to the next meeting for elections and let us know what the Federation can do to get more participation from its members.
Motion made to adjourn. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Wells
Secretary
